GROWING CRYSTALS OF COPPER SULPHATE:

Saturday, February 20, 2010

ITEMS REQUIRED:

One beaker 200ml-One glass rod-One plate-Thread-One pencil-Distilled water

PROCEDURE:

Take some copper sulphate powder and put it in about 50ml of hot water in a beaker, stir until no more copper sulphate will dissolve. Pour a little of solution into a saucer and allow it to cool without disturbance. After several hours, you will see some small crystals in the saucer. Collect one good crystal and tie a fine thread around it. Hang this crystal in the copper sulphate solution in a beaker. Leave the crystal undisturbed for several days. As the water evaporates from the solution, the seed crystal becomes larger and larger. Remove it and dry it with a blotting paper. Remove the thread by cutting it. Your crystal is ready.
